The Beitian Village Site is a cultural relic protection unit of Hebei Province.

Beitian Village Site

The Beitian Village Site is located in Beitian Village, Wu'an City. Human habitation and activity in this area date back to the Neolithic Age, around 6000 BC, continuing through the Longshan Era, the Shang, Zhou, and Han dynasties. The cultural remains of the site span over 3,000 years. It is now a key cultural relic protection unit of Hebei Province.

The site covers an area of approximately 36,000 square meters, with a cultural layer 2–3 meters thick. It contains rich remains, mainly including ash pits, burials, and layers of red fired earth. Artifacts consist primarily of pottery, stone tools, and clam shells. Pottery shapes include jar-shaped ding vessels, small-mouthed bottles, red-topped bowls, ghost-faced ding vessels, li tripods, as well as tube and slab tiles. Decorative patterns feature plain surfaces, zizag lines, fingernail impressions, basket weaves, and rope patterns. On the surface, sand-tempered red pottery shards, sand-tempered gray pottery shards, and clay-bodied gray pottery shards can be found everywhere. The discovery of this site is of considerable significance for studying the history of the Neolithic Age to the Han Dynasty in northern Henan and southern Hebei.
