The Niantou Site is a cultural heritage protection unit of Hebei Province.

Niantou Site

The Niantou Site is located in Niantou Village, Wu'an City. The site lies in the southern part of the alluvial plain of the Zhang River, covering an area of 20,000 square meters with a cultural layer about 1.5 meters thick. It was discovered in 1979, and ash pits and other features are exposed on the cliff face. The artifacts are mainly pottery, including vessels such as jars, basins, steamers, dou (bean pots), and zun (wine vessels). The pottery types are predominantly polished black pottery and sandy gray pottery, followed by gray clay pottery. The decorative patterns mainly consist of basket weave and polished designs, with rope patterns being less common. The Niantou Site dates back to the Neolithic Age and the Warring States Period. It is now a key cultural heritage protection unit of Hebei Province.
