The Guzhen Iron Smelting Site is a cultural heritage site protected at the provincial level in Hebei Province.

Guzhen Iron Smelting Site

The Guzhen Iron Smelting Site is located in Guzhen Village, Wu’an County, and covers an area of approximately 15,000 square meters. The site is relatively well-preserved, with a cultural layer about 3 meters thick. Excavations in 1978 uncovered ironware such as mattocks, knives, spades, sickles, adzes, chisels, and nails, as well as a large amount of unburned charcoal, proving that the fuel used at this iron smelting site was charcoal. In addition, Han Dynasty pottery fragments can be found throughout the site. Judging from the stratigraphic layers, there were no significant changes in the cultural layer, indicating that this is an iron smelting site dating back to the Han Dynasty. It is now a key cultural heritage site under the protection of Hebei Province.
