Wu'an National Geopark

Wu'an National Geopark is a national geopark and a science education base.

Hebei Wu'an National Geopark is located in Huoshui Township and Guantao Township of Wu'an City, bordering Zuoquan County of Shanxi Province to the west, Xingtai County and Shahe City of Hebei Province to the north, and Hejin Town and Yangyi Town of Wu'an City to the south. It covers a total area of 412 square kilometers, with a core scenic area of 75.45 square kilometers. There are 86 geological heritage protection sites within the geopark. It is the only national geopark in Handan City and one of the national land and resources science education bases in China.

In March 2008, the museum site was officially approved and construction began at the intersection of Mendaochuan and Changshechuan, situated by the picturesque Jingniang Lake. The main building of the museum complex harmonizes with the northern peninsula, eastern and western cliffs, and southern entrance, creating a uniquely styled, thematically clear, and deeply meaningful attraction. As the centerpiece of the geopark, the Geological Museum highlights the park’s canyon peak forest and red cliff features, showcases the long, rich, and magical cultural heritage of Wu'an, presents the diverse mineral types and abundant resource utilization history, and depicts an ambitious and inspiring vision for future development. The museum was completed in October 2009, with a total construction area of 8,200 square meters and a total investment of 46 million yuan.

The main structure of the Geological Museum consists of five floors above ground and three underground, serving as a multifunctional comprehensive building integrating academic exchange, scientific research, teaching, science popularization, sightseeing, vacation leisure, entertainment and shopping, as well as accommodation and dining.

On the ground floor, the first level houses the museum exhibition halls and a multi-purpose hall. The second and third levels contain guest rooms, the fourth level has lounges, and the fifth level features an ultra-luxurious revolving restaurant. The underground levels include a banquet hall on B1, luxury private dining rooms on B2, and a large conference room on B3.

Transportation by Bus: Take bus 808 from Handan West Station to Wu'an Bus Station, then transfer to a bus bound for Guwudang Mountain or Changshou Village, and get off at Jingniang Lake along the way.

Driving Route: After exiting the highway in Handan — head to Wu'an — then to Shaming — and finally to Jingniang Lake.
