Wu'an Sixteen Valleys

The Sixteen Valleys Scenic Area is located two kilometers north of Huoshui Village, Huoshui Township, Wu'an City, Hebei Province, thirty kilometers from the city center. The scenic area covers an area of approximately 15 square kilometers. Since 2004, the area has planned to invest 260 million yuan in development. The entire scenic zone has initially established facilities covering services, sightseeing, vacationing, leisure, training, as well as dining, accommodation, tours, shopping, and entertainment. The Sixteen Valleys Scenic Area consists of five major zones, encompassing 86 scenic spots.

The first is the Mountain Spring Homestead Zone. This area features eight stone houses and buildings covering about 5,000 square meters. Utilizing a mountain spring, it has been developed into a multifunctional service zone integrating dining, accommodation, entertainment, fishing, bathing, sightseeing, and shopping. Currently, it offers over 200 beds and can accommodate dining for up to a thousand people.

The second is the Immortal Maiden Temple Zone. It includes attractions such as the Scripture Cave, Mountain God Rock, Lotus Peak, Twin Longevity Mountains, Turtle Spirit Lake, Twin Buddha Mountain, Lüxian Rock, Immortal Spring, and Fairy Pool, forming a natural landscape tour that combines lakes, pools, springs, caves, rocks, and peaks.

The third is the Nanti Slope Zone. Legend has it that a family named Lao Han once lived here. A divine deer descended to find a water source to relieve the local people suffering from drought, and encountered Lao Han’s son. As they searched for water together, they formed a bond and eventually became husband and wife. This love story has been passed down through generations. Based on the legend of the Lao Han family and centered around the theme of fate and affection, this zone has been developed into an eco-friendly tourist attraction featuring the original dwelling of Lao Han, Deer Paw Spring, Ninth Heaven Fairy, Jade Maiden Peak, Rooster Mountain, Lovers’ Valley, and Immortal Gorge—each rich in mythical and legendary charm. Visitors can enjoy the natural scenery while immersing themselves in enchanting tales.

The fourth is the White Cloud Nest Zone. Here, attractions such as the Elephant Trunk Mountain, Golden Toad Rock, and Yuanyang Mountain come vividly to life. The Taoist Cave, Xuanwu Cave, and the One-Line Sky form interconnected cave systems. With steep peaks and mysterious caves and springs, the area offers visitors a sense of exploring serene paths and hidden valleys. The fifth is the White Cloud Mountain Zone. White Cloud Mountain features a flat expanse of about 150 acres. Legend says that Mu Guiying once trained her troops here. The mountain also contains the ruins of the Ming Dynasty Bixia Yuanjun Temple.

At the foot of the mountain, attractions such as Panlong Pool, Moon Companion Bridge, Yunzhi Peak, Purple Light Rock, Sanqing Temple, and Heavenly Pool have been built. A Jade Dragon Plank Walkway, approximately 2.5 kilometers long, has also been constructed. Visiting this area allows one to directly experience the feeling of “spring water flowing over stones, wind whispering through pines, and people wandering within a painting.”
