Located in the Yiyang Scenic Area along the middle section of Yuanyang Stream, it is one of the four great wonders of Yuanyang Stream. Zhang Chao-sheng, a martial arts scholar from Yiyang during the Qing Dynasty, inscribed it as “The cascading waters turn to mist.” With its waterfall towering 150 meters high and spanning over 20 meters wide in front of the cave, the site boasts an awe-inspiring presence, earning it the title of “the foremost among China’s five major water curtain caves.” During the wet season, it features a single-tiered waterfall, but in the dry season it can split into a three-tiered waterfall with graceful curves. Its characteristics include a broad waterfall face, significant drop height, long spray trajectory, abundant and uninterrupted water flow, making it viewable all year round. The Water Curtain Cave is embedded halfway up the mountainside and can accommodate over a hundred people. Visitors can enter the cave from the side without getting wet, as if exploring a dragon palace. Beside the waterfall are scenic spots such as the Divine Turtle and Divine Frog rocks and the Chimpanzee Blocking the Waterfall, complementing the view. A stone carving resembling—but not quite—the character “啊” (ah) can be interpreted as the ten characters “Ah, the landscapes of Baizhangji are extraordinarily majestic,” showcasing ingenious craftsmanship. Below the Water Curtain Cave, the Flower and Fruit Mountain is currently under development, with plans to domesticate macaques artificially.
