Jitou Village

Jitou Village boasts a long history, dating back 1,135 years, and is rich in cultural heritage with numerous historical relics. A large number of ancient dwellings, each with its own distinctive features, were built using locally sourced materials—saving time, labor, and money. The museum was established through individual efforts.

The front section of the Pingnan Agricultural Culture Museum is set up across six adjacent ancient houses, offering an authentic and quaint visual experience. These are undeveloped, non-commercialized sites, far from the hustle and bustle of the city—free from urban influences or commercial traces. The village's historical culture and human touch are well worth seeing. Last week, on our way back to Fuzhou from the county town after visiting Baishuiyang, we dropped by casually. We found Xiaoliyu Village to be very natural and simple. The carp in the stream, the ancient houses by Carp Stream, the residents in those houses, the dog that followed us along the stream, the kittens and chickens by the stream, the preschool children playing on the stone-paved path in front of the houses by the stream, the clear stream water, the villagers washing vegetables by the stream, and the cool breeze gently blowing—all these evoke endless memories.
