Houlong Huiguang Temple is a cultural heritage site protected at the provincial level in Fujian Province.

Houlong Huiguang Temple

Located near the confluence of two streams at the end of Houlong Village, Pingshan Township, Pingnan County, the temple features a small stone arch bridge in front. It was renovated in the 47th year of the Wanli era during the Ming Dynasty (1619) (as inscribed on the underside of the beams) and again in the 16th year of the Chongzhen era (1643) (also inscribed on the underside of the beams), with multiple subsequent repairs. The temple is constructed with earth and wood, has a flush gable roof, and firewalls. The three-courtyard main hall is 19 meters wide, originally 45 meters deep, covering an area of 855 square meters. The existing main structures consist of the lower hall, the courtyard, and the main hall, while the rear hall has collapsed, bringing the current area to 551 square meters. The courtyard and corridors are paved with pebbles, and the main hall floor is rammed earth. The main hall (including the front porch) is three bays wide and five bays deep, with a post-and-lintel and bracket-arm construction, and a shrine at the back. The four central columns are thick and sturdy, with prominent vertical columns, short columns, beams, and brackets that are large and well-formed, showing distinct characteristics of Ming Dynasty wooden architecture. Inscriptions under the beams accurately record renovation dates from different periods of the Ming Dynasty, and the wooden structures in the main hall from the Ming era are well preserved, exemplifying typical architectural features of temples from that period. The temple holds high historical and cultural value.

Designated as a ninth-batch provincial-level cultural heritage site in 2018.
