Dongshang Site

The Dongshang Site is a cultural heritage site protected by Handan City.

The Dongshang Site is an ancient settlement from the Yangshao, Shang, and Warring States periods, located south of Dongshang Village in Kang’ercheng Town, Wu’an City. It is part of the second batch of municipal-level cultural heritage protection units in Handan City.

Dongshang Village: Dongshang Village is situated 8 kilometers northwest of the Kang’ercheng Town government seat. It is 1 kilometer east of Linqiuan Village, 1 kilometer south of Qinghua Village, 2.5 kilometers west of Dawang Village, and 1 kilometer north of Yonghe Village. Legend has it that the village was established during the Song Dynasty. Due to its location on the sunny slope of a gully south of the main valley where more people gathered, the houses were built along the gully, and the villagers called it “Dongshang” (literally “Upper Gully”). The village covers an area of 500 mu, mostly red soil. It has 470 households and a population of 2,045, all of whom are Han Chinese.
