Located in Shawu Township, Qingliu County, it is respectively 50 km from Qingliu County town, 50 km from Liancheng Airport, and 100 km from Sanming City. It is close to the Fox Cave scenic spot.

A scenic area where karst landforms complement the vast lake waters, featuring cave clusters, waterfalls, canyons, islands, and primeval forests.

The primitive forest vegetation within the Jiulong Lake · Jiulong Cave Cluster Scenic Area is well-preserved, and the water area is extensive. Its landscape is characterized by “mountains in the lake, caves in the mountains, and water in the caves.”

Major attractions in the scenic area include: the Town-Guarding Buddha Stone in Jiulong Gorge, the Jiulong Crossing-the-River Stone, Chicken Cock Island and Divine Turtle Island in the lake center, Baima Mountain, Jiulong Cave Cluster, ancient eye fossil group, Candle Mountain, Mandarin Duck Bay, Ten-Li Flat Lake, Jiulong Gorge, various sized islands in the lake center, Mengxi Valley, Erdie Spring Waterfall, Fish Leaping Over the Dragon Gate, Sky Book Rock, and more. For water attractions, visitors can take painted-style cruise boats; they may also opt for speedboats to tour the Jiulong Lake route, though speedboat fares are charged separately.

The lake-center Divine Turtle Island covers nearly 300 acres, facing Baima Mountain. Baima Mountain is riddled with karst caves known as the Jiulong Cave Cluster, which are filled with stalactites and have yielded ancient human fossils. Outside the caves, ancient trees thrive, entwined with old vines, set within a vast and dense primeval forest dotted with wildflowers, offering a refreshing and pleasant view.

Downstream along the lake lies the 20-km-long Jiulong Gorge, within which the Jiulong Eighteen Rapids were once hailed as “the most treacherous waterway in Fujian.” Towering cliffs line both banks, where visitors can admire clear waters, swimming fish, peculiar rocks, and sturdy pines.

Shawu Township: Shawu Township in Qingliu County has comprehensively utilized the resource advantages of Jiulong Lake Reservoir, actively guiding farmers to develop “cage fish farming,” making fisheries a pillar industry for increasing local farmers’ income. Due to the low cost of cages at the time, villagers such as Huang from Dongkou Village were the first to start “cage fish farming.” Seeing the profits made by Huang and others, many farmers joined this “low-investment, quick-return, low-cost, high-yield” industry. Seizing the trend, Shawu Township adopted an approach of “going out and bringing in,” and even established a fisheries association that regularly invited relevant professionals to provide training for villagers...
