Fox Cave

Fox Cave is located in Dongkou Village, Shawu Township, Qingliu County, within the reservoir area of the Ansha Hydropower Station.

Major attractions include Fox Cave, Swallow Cave, Transformation Rock, White Dragon Rock, and Jetty Head Cave. The entrance of Fox Cave faces south, about 80 meters above the nearby riverbed. The cave is over 10 meters deep, up to 4 meters wide, and approximately 5 meters high. Ancient human and animal fossils have been discovered here, leading to its designation as a provincial-level cultural heritage site. Swallow Cave is larger in scale, with a cavernous hall that can accommodate hundreds of people. Inside, there are uniquely shaped stalactites, and a small waterfall cascades from the cave ceiling. Historical records indicate that remnants of Shi Dakai’s Taiping Rebellion forces once camped here.

Shawu Township: Shawu Township in Qingliu County has made comprehensive use of the resource advantages of Jiulong Lake Reservoir, actively guiding farmers to develop “cage fish farming.” As a result, the fishing industry has become a pillar of income growth for local farmers. Due to the low initial costs of cage farming, a local farmer surnamed Huang from Dongkou Village was among the first to start “cage fish farming.” Seeing the profits made by Huang and others, many farmers joined this “low-investment, fast-yield, low-cost, high-return” industry.
