Revolutionary Sites of the Red Army in Linshe

1930–1931

Location: Tangjue Village, Linshe Township, Qingliu County

Description: Comprises Mao Zedong’s Former Residence (Yiyan Mansion), Workers’ Night School (i.e., Runhui Mansion), the Red Army Well, the Red Army Hospital (consisting of a civilian house and a natural karst cave), the Red Army Bridge, and the Martyrs’ Cemetery. On January 15, 1930, Mao Zedong led the Second Column of the Fourth Red Army via Liancheng into Qingliu, camping at Tangjue Village in Linshe Township, where he held a mass meeting. The next day, they marched on to Mingxi. During the march, Mao wrote his famous poem “Like a Dream – New Year’s Day.” In June 1931, after the victory in the Second Counter-Encirclement Campaign, to expand the Central Revolutionary Base, some Red Army troops entered Linshe from Taining, Jiangle, and Mingxi, establishing the Linshe Township Soviet Government.

Protected Area: A 20-meter buffer zone extending outward from the site boundaries.

In 2009, the Revolutionary Sites of the Red Army in Linshe were designated as part of the seventh batch of Provincial Cultural Relics Protection Units by the Fujian Provincial People's Government.

Linshe Town: Linshe Township is located in the northeastern part of Qingliu County and is often referred to as the “Northern Gateway” of Qingliu. It borders Mingxi County to the east, Songxi Huangshakou Village to the west, Wenjiao Township to the south, and connects to Ninghua to the north. It is also home to the Qingliu Prison. The township administers eight administrative villages, 54 villager groups, with a total population of 11,080, including 9,465 agricultural residents. The total land area of the township is 96.4 square kilometers, with a population density of 115 people per square kilometer.
