Wudi Sea Convergence Pagoda
The Wudi Sea Convergence Pagoda is a cultural heritage site protected at the provincial level in Fujian Province.
The Wudi Sea Convergence Pagoda is located in Wudi Village, Wenjiao Township, Qingliu County, dating back to the Qing Dynasty.
Description: Built in the 14th year of the Qianlong reign during the Qing Dynasty (1758), it is a five-story, hexagonal, closely-eaved wooden-core stone pagoda with a total height of 15 meters. The first floor serves as a golden shrine (Jin’an) for burying the remains of devotees, while the second floor and above feature a wooden staircase inside the core. The fifth floor is constructed with inwardly tapering blue bricks. The pagoda faces east and sits to the west; the first floor has one door opening to the east, and the second to fifth floors each have three doors. Associated cultural relics include the West Lake Bridge and the theater stage. The bridge is 18.5 meters long, built with stone beams and a wooden structure, featuring a covered corridor with five bays, each supported by four pillars. The theater stage connects to the western end of the bridge, with a width of three bays, a depth of five pillars, and a roof supported by raised and interlocking beams, topped with an overhanging gable roof.
In 2013, the Wudi Sea Convergence Pagoda was designated as part of the eighth batch of provincial-level cultural heritage sites by the People’s Government of Fujian Province.
Protected area: An additional 50-meter buffer zone extends around the pagoda and the bridge.
