The Former Site of Red Army Slogans at the Residence of Li Yueliang in Changxiao Village is a classic red tourism attraction.
The Former Site of Red Army Slogans at the Residence of Li Yueliang in Changxiao Village is located beside a small river near Changxiao School in the main part of Changxiao Village, Changxiao Town, Qingliu County.
In mid-January 1931, the 101st Regiment of the 34th Division of the 12th Red Army (Commander Yang Yuchun, Political Commissar Lian Xun) was stationed in the Litian and Changxiao areas of Qingliu to assist the work team of the Fujian Provincial Committee. They helped establish local Party branches, governments, and carried out land redistribution campaigns. They successively established Soviet governments in Hekeng, Qiankeng, Liukeng, Xiexie, Huangshikeng, Changxiao, and Jiangfang villages in the Changxiao area. Later, units of the 12th Red Army as well as the 34th Division (reorganized from the former 19th Red Army of Fujian) were also active here. The building was originally the residence of an elderly traditional Chinese medicine practitioner surnamed Zou. Red Army wounded soldiers often received treatment here, and locals referred to the place as the “Red Army Hospital.” The slogans preserved here were written during this period. The slogans are located on the left wall of the main hall of the old house, the left wing room wall, and the outer wall of the left wing room in the lower hall. There are five sets totaling ten slogans: Set A has two slogans: “Expand the Red Army” and “Only the Soviet Can Save China,” signed “Red Army”; Set B has two slogans: “Only the Soviet Can Save China!” and “Oppose Imperialist Partition of China!”; Set C has three slogans: “Down with the Kuomintang That Betrays China!” “Only the Soviet Can Save China,” and “Down with the Kuomintang That Massacres Workers and Peasants!”; Set D has two slogans: “Smash the Enemy’s Fifth Offensive!” and “Fight the Imperialists Directly!” signed “Red Army □□ (Proclaims)”; Set E contains a larger slogan: “□□ Organize Ambulance Teams to Transport the Wounded and Help the Red Army!”
The residence of Li Yueliang is a tile-roofed earthen structure, consisting of a three-courtyard house with a central courtyard, side wing rooms, three rooms in the right wing, and a total floor area of 254 square meters.
