Kongdong Mountain, also known as Immortal Cave, is located in Kongdongshan Natural Village, Meilin Village, Shangjing Town, Datian County. It earned its name because the entire mountain is hollow inside. Immortal Cave is a limestone cave that slopes downward at the entrance. Inside, there are 18 large and small chambers, winding and twisting in all directions. The larger ones can accommodate over 200 people, while the smaller ones require visitors to bend and sidestep to enter. The cave is filled with natural formations, such as dragon heads, ox hooves, beehives, steep ridges, bamboo shoots, drums, stoves, and turtles. Among them, the “Immortal’s Mosquito Net” and “Clear Water Pond” are particularly noteworthy attractions.

The Clear Water Pond is about knee-deep, five meters square. A small spring flows along a shallow channel into a deep crevice and disappears, adding a unique charm. Legend has it that in the past, visitors could see red carp swimming in the pond, which would dive into nearby caves at the sight of people, making them impossible to catch. The rocky slopes outside the cave feature oddly shaped rocks and lush flowers and plants, making it a popular scenic spot.
