Fanglian Fort is a national key cultural relics protection unit.

Fanglian Fort, also known as Fanglian Hall, is located in Xusikeng Village, Datian County, and is one of the existing ancient forts in the area, notable for its large scale. Originally built in the 11th year of the Jiaqing reign during the Qing Dynasty (1806), it covers an area of 3,000 square meters and has a total of 160 rooms. It is a national key cultural relics protection unit. Oriented to face south from the north, it features the only double outward-projecting watchtower among the earthen forts in the Sanming region, and belongs to the front-square-rear-round palace-style earthen fort. Its layout emphasizes symmetry, its architectural style is uniquely ingenious, its living functions are clearly divided, its defensive capabilities are robust, its decorative arts are exquisite, and its feng shui principles are carefully considered—showcasing the unique craftsmanship of ancient folk architecture.

The entire fort is composed of 22 structures, with a total of 160 rooms. The rear of the fort is semi-circular; the front has two floors, while the other three sides have three. The ground floor has 48 rooms, with three gates on the left and right sides and one corner tower on each side. The outer wall has a stone foundation as thick as 2.3 meters, and the second-floor corridor of the fort stretches 230 meters in length. The walls feature over 40 windows, allowing for self-defense and ventilation. Inside, there are facilities such as a well, grain storage, and pigsties to prepare for potential sieges by bandits.
