Tongsi Bridge

Tongsi Bridge is a cultural relic protection unit of Fujian Province.

Tongsi Bridge is located in Qixi Village, Huaxing Township, Datian County, and dates back to the Ming Dynasty.

Description: Built in the ninth year of the Hongzhi reign during the Ming Dynasty (1496), it is a single-arch stone bridge with a covered corridor, oriented from north to south. The bridge is 22.68 meters long and 6.44 meters wide, with an arch span of 11.58 meters. The bridge house features a mixed wooden frame structure of four pillars, nine purlins, raised beams, and interlocking rafters, with nine bays and forty pillars. The central bay is adorned with corbelled brackets that step up progressively to form a multi-tiered conical caisson ceiling, topped with a double-eaved hip-and-gable roof. The sides are equipped with windbreak boards, railings, and long benches.

Protected area: Extending 20 meters outward to the east and west, and 10 meters outward to the south and north.

In 2018, Tongsi Bridge was designated as part of the ninth batch of provincial-level cultural relic protection units by the People's Government of Fujian Province.
