Serpentine Cottage

Serpentine Cottage is a cultural heritage site protected by Datian County.

Serpentine Cottage is located in Yangmei Village, Pingshan Township, dating back to the Qing Dynasty.

Serpentine Cottage is a Qing-era residential building, facing south, and consists of a main hall and a serpentine side wing on the east. The main hall extends from south to north in the sequence of an open courtyard, entrance hall, patio, and the main hall, featuring a post-and-lintel structure with a flush-gable roof. The roof is covered with grey tiles, topped with swallowtail ridge tiles. The eastern side wing has a post-and-lintel wooden frame, composed of eleven stepped flush-gable roofs, stretching 30 meters in length, with the side wing shaped like a serpent.

On February 27, 2017, the Datian County People's Government listed Serpentine Cottage as part of the eighth batch of county-level cultural heritage protection sites.

Yangmei Village: Located in the southeastern part of Pingshan Township, Datian County, Yangmei Village borders Wangping Village to the east, Xukeng Village to the west, Jiangshan Village to the south, and Ruimei Village to the north. It is surrounded by mountains on all sides. The village has a total population of 920 people, divided into 8 villager groups, covering a land area of 8,650 mu, including 420 mu of arable land, 5,150 mu of forestland, 2,135 mu of ecological conservation forest, with a forest coverage rate of 65.1%.
