Caozi Alley Ancient City is a cultural heritage site protected at the municipal level in Handan City.

Caozi Alley Ancient City is situated in Shidong Township, Wu’an City, and dates back to the Warring States and Han dynasties.

Caozi Alley Ancient City is among the third batch of municipal-level cultural heritage protection units in Handan City.

Shidong Township: A township under the jurisdiction of Wu’an City. Established in 1953 with Zhaozhuang and Shilidian as two separate townships, it was incorporated into Yangyi Commune in 1958, reorganized as Shidong Commune in 1961, and became a township in 1984. In 1996, Bai guan Township was merged into it. It is located in the western part of the city, 22 kilometers from downtown. The township covers an area of 64 square kilometers with a population of 21,000. It administers 15 village committees: Shidong, Zhaozhuang, Hexi, Tian’erzhuang, Caozi Alley, Shilidian, Hedong, Sanwangcun, Qingyansi, Baiguan, Shi’erzhuang, Heyey?, Nanhedi, Beihedi, and Tanling.
