Former Site of the Fourth Red Army’s Front Committee Office – Wangyun Thatched Hut

Liancheng Wangyun Thatched Hut is located in Xinquan Village, Xinquan Town, Liancheng County. Originally the ancestral hall and academy of the Zhang family, it is a brick-and-wood hall-style building with a construction area of 583.3 square meters. The site also includes the Workers’ and Peasants’ Women’s Night School, the Soldiers’ Survey Meeting Site, and the Guanzhuang Farmers’ Survey Meeting Site. In December 1929, the Fourth Red Army prepared for the Gutian Conference by conducting a ten-day political and military training session in Xinquan, along with extensive social investigations. Mao Zedong, - , Chen Yi, and the Front Committee office were stationed here. Mao personally guided the establishment of the Workers’ and Peasants’ Women’s Night School, convened the Soldiers’ Survey Meeting and the Guanzhuang Farmers’ Survey Meeting, and drafted the Gutian Conference resolution. In December 1929, in preparation for the Gutian Conference, the Fourth Red Army of the Chinese Workers’ and Peasants’ Red Army carried out a ten-day political and military training as well as social investigations in Xinquan. To prepare the “Resolution of the Ninth Congress of the Fourth Army of the Chinese Communist Party’s Red Army” (also known as the “Gutian Conference Resolution”), Mao Zedong held the Soldiers’ Survey Meeting and the Guanzhuang Farmers’ Survey Meeting. During this time, Mao also guided the establishment of the Workers’ and Peasants’ Women’s Night School.

In 1985, the Fujian Provincial People’s Government listed it as a second batch Provincial Cultural Relics Protection Unit.
