The Guanzhai Mountain Water Conservancy Scenic Area is a national water conservancy scenic area.
The Guanzhai Mountain Water Conservancy Scenic Area is located in Liancheng County, Longyan City. It is built around the Shimenyan Reservoir and the Longtan Reservoir, covering an area of 30.23 square kilometers, including 1.02 square kilometers of water surface, making it a reservoir-type water conservancy scenic area.
The Shimen Lake Reservoir and Jiulong Lake Reservoir have a total capacity of 13.57 million cubic meters and provide comprehensive benefits such as flood control, irrigation, and water supply. In recent years, the scenic area management has carried out projects including pollution control, ecological revetment restoration, and separate stormwater and sewage systems, significantly improving the water ecological environment. The water quality remains at Class III or above year-round. The scenic area is most notable for its water-based Danxia landform, where canyons, caves, rivers, and lakes combine to create a landscape of red cliffs against green waters and lush forests. The area is now a National AAAA-level Tourist Attraction and a National Geopark.
