Dashiyanyan Reservoir Water Conservancy Scenic Area

Location: Southeast of Wenhen Town, Liancheng County, Longyan City, Fujian Province

Introduction:

Dashiyanyan Lake and River Scenic Area is located in the southeast of Wenhen Town. It is 1 km south of the Nankeng Ecological Peach Garden in our county and 1 km north of Tianyi Hot Spring Resort. With convenient transportation and an elegant natural environment, the area centers around Dashiyanyan Reservoir. To the southwest lies a section of landscape similar to the Danxia landform of Guanzhai Mountain in our county that remains undeveloped. The river, gorges, valleys, and collapsed landforms create unique scenic features. The surrounding area boasts pastoral scenery, cultural relics, traditional culture, folk customs, original Red Army slogans, and traditional farmhouse snacks—all of which hold tourism development potential. Aquatic species include the white heron duck and light fish; crops grown here feature red-skinned peanuts and fresh-cut flowers; birds flying overhead include egrets and swifts; and the mountains are home to sika deer—all offering tourism value. Nearby attractions include the Leifeng Pagoda on Qishanzhai, the Wanyuan Stone Bridge, the ruins of Jishantang, square earthen buildings, original Red Army slogans, ancient residences, Jiangbin Temple, Lotus Temple, Yuanying Nunnery, the Auspicious (Overflowing) Gate Brothers’ Pavilion, a thousand-year-old monkey tree, large pine and fir trees, century-old fragrant flower trees, as well as traditional cultural elements such as the Ten Instruments music, folk martial arts, paper-cut flowers, lion dances, dragon parades, and the Monkey King performances.
