Fengtu Ancestral Hall Complex

The Fengtu Ancestral Hall Complex is a cultural heritage site protected at the provincial level in Fujian Province.

The Fengtu Ancestral Hall Complex is located in Fengtuxia Village, Miaoqian Town, Liancheng County, dating back to the Qing Dynasty.

Description: It consists of three structures: the Taifu Ancestral Hall, Cuiyan Ancestral Hall, and Hanshan Ancestral Hall. Taifu Ancestral Hall: Built in the late Qing Dynasty, it faces west and covers an area of approximately 1,782 square meters, with a built-up area of 650 square meters. It includes a courtyard, lower hall, upper hall, and wing rooms. The front eaves of the lower hall have a front porch, with a four-pillar, three-bay, three-story wooden memorial archway in the center. Both the upper and lower halls have three bays in width, featuring a mixed post-and-lintel and bracket-arm wooden frame structure with a clay floor. Shuguang Hall is an auxiliary building of the Taifu Ancestral Hall, with a built-up area of 1,010 square meters. Cuiyan Ancestral Hall: Built in the late Qing Dynasty, it consists of Aicun Hall and Yougong Hall, faces south, covers an area of approximately 2,507 square meters, and has a built-up area of 1,794 square meters. Hanshan Ancestral Hall: Also known as Hanshan Hall, it was built in the late Qing Dynasty, faces west, covers an area of approximately 1,700 square meters, and has a built-up area of 1,270 square meters. It includes a gate tower, inner courtyard, entrance hall, lower hall, upper hall, wing rooms, and rear enclosed rooms.

Protection boundary: Each individual structure is protected within an area extending 20 meters outward from its perimeter.

In 2018, the Fengtu Ancestral Hall Complex was designated as part of the ninth batch of provincial-level cultural heritage sites by the People’s Government of Fujian Province.

Miaoqian Town: A town under the jurisdiction of Liancheng County. It is one of China's 100 key small towns supported by the state and a pilot town for rural industrialization. During the Republican era, it belonged to Xinquan Township; after 1949, it was part of Xinquan District. In 1972, Miaoqian Commune was established after splitting from Xinquan Commune, and in 1984, it was upgraded to a town. Located in the southern part of the county, it covers an area of 177 square kilometers with a population of 30,000. The town government is seated in Miaoqian. National Highway 319 runs across the town. It governs 15 village committees: Miaoqian, Miaoshang, Lvfang, Shuibei, Jiangshe, Lanqiao, Zhudi, Yanbei, ZhiLian, Pingtou, Zhixing, Zhixi, Zhihong, Zhimin, and Fengtu.
