The former residence of Deng Zihui during his revolutionary propaganda in Puwei Village is located in Puwei Natural Village, Xiangya Village, Shiliu Town, Zhangpu County.

On December 24, 1931, the Fujian Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of China sent Deng Zihui to Zhangzhou. His task was to transform the purely military outlook of the Zhangzhou guerrilla unit and closely integrate guerrilla activities with mass struggles. At that time, the secretary of the Zhangzhou County Committee of the Communist Party of China, Li Jinfa, and the leader of the guerrilla unit, Wang Zhanchun, led a group of brave fighters who maintained close ties with the masses. However, due to the guerrillas' purely military actions, they had not been able to establish a guerrilla base. After hearing their reports, Deng Zihui believed that the Xiaoshancheng area, located at the border of Jinghe and Pu, about 60 li away from Zhangpu County, was a suitable place to establish a base. Therefore, he came to Xiaoshancheng Village in Shiliu Town, Zhangpu County, to lead nearby farmers in armed resistance against levies, propagate revolutionary ideas among the masses, establish secret peasant associations in Xiangya Village and surrounding villages, and support the armed struggle in Xiaoshancheng.

The former residence of Deng Zihui during his revolutionary propaganda in Puwei Village was originally the home of a villager surnamed Wu from Xiangya Village. After the founding of the People’s Republic of China, the Wu family residence still retained a suitcase and medicine box used by Deng Zihui, which were later handed over as revolutionary relics to the Party History Research Office of the Zhangpu County Committee of the Communist Party of China. The Wu family residence has now collapsed due to severe roof leaks.

Xiangya Village, formerly known as Xiangya Zhuang (mispronounced as Shangping Zhuang), is located in the western part of Shiliu Town, 7 kilometers from the town center.
