Taihe Shayi River National Wetland Park is a cultural heritage site under the protection of Taihe County and a national-level wetland park.

The main part of Taihe Shayi River National Wetland Park is the Genglou River Channel Wetland, located around Taihe County, with an extended area of 20 square kilometers. The wetland rivers, ditches, and marshes are concentrated and interconnected, forming a relatively complete composite wetland system that performs essential ecological functions including flood control, irrigation, navigation, water purification, climate regulation, and the maintenance of regional biodiversity.

The Shayi River Wetland is a permanent river wetland. The original ecological environment of the wetland park remains intact, with abundant flora and fauna resources. It enjoys favorable geographical conditions, and the surrounding area is rich in historical relics, boasting a long and profound cultural heritage.

The Shayi River is the largest tributary of the Huai River, originating from the Funiu Mountain area in Henan Province. It flows through both Henan and Anhui provinces, with a total length of 620 kilometers, of which 40.5 kilometers lie within Taihe County. The Anhui Taihe Shayi River National Wetland Park is situated in the western part of Taihe County along the Shayi River basin, extending from the Genglou Hydraulic Hub to the Third Shayi River Bridge. It flows through four towns—Chengguan, Daxin, Jiuxian, and Shuizhen—with a total length of 13.5 kilometers. Additionally, it includes 1.5 kilometers of Wanfugou below Provincial Highway 308 and 1 kilometer of the lowermost section of Baiyanggou, covering a planned area of approximately 714 hectares. The Shayi River Wetland is a permanent river wetland.

The Anhui Taihe Shayi River Wetland Park is divided into four functional zones: the Wetland Ecological Conservation Area, the Shayi River Leisure Experience Area, the Wetland Ecological Function Display Area, and the Service Management Area.

Chen Baxian (503–559 AD), courtesy name Xingguo and childhood name Fasheng, was the founding emperor of the Chen Dynasty during the Southern and Northern Dynasties period. Chen Baxian helped Wang Sengbian suppress the Hou Jing Rebellion; he defeated the Northern Qi, seized the Liang regime, and established the Chen Dynasty. In the second year of the Taiping era (557 AD), he deposed Emperor Jianwen of Liang and declared himself emperor, becoming Emperor Wu of Chen. During his reign, Chen Baxian also suppressed the remnants of Wang Sengbian’s forces, quelled rebellions by Xiao Bo and Wang Lin. He passed away in 559 AD, posthumously honored with the title Emperor Wu, ancestral temple name Emperor Gaozu, and was buried in Wanan Mausoleum.
