Taihe North Mosque

Taihe North Mosque is a cultural relic protection unit of Anhui Province.

Taihe North Mosque is located on the west side of Middle Renmin Road in the city center.

It covers a construction area of 3,074 square meters. In front of it is the Islamic Building, and to the north is the Women’s Mosque. The Hui ethnic community lives around the mosque, enjoying a superior geographical environment. The mosque has a history of over 600 years. According to historical records: during the early days of Zhu Yuanzhang's founding of the nation, there was a troop composed of Hui people, all of whom were highly skilled in martial arts and brave in battle. They made great contributions to Zhu Yuanzhang’s overthrow of the Yuan Dynasty. After Zhu Yuanzhang ascended the throne, to show his gratitude to these courageous and meritorious Hui brothers, he issued an imperial edict in the second year of the Hongwu era, instructing that twenty Hui mosques be built across Anhui in accordance with Hui customs and beliefs. Taihe North Mosque is one of them.
