Kouzi Mosque

Kouzi Mosque is a cultural heritage site protected at the provincial level in Anhui Province.

Kouzi Mosque is located at the southern end of the old street in Kouzi Town. It was originally built in the second year of the Hongwu era during the Ming Dynasty and was renovated in the sixth year of the Guangxu era. The mosque covers an area of 3,200 square meters and is one of the oldest surviving mosques in Fuyang City that retains early Islamic architectural style. The site currently has over thirty structures, including three main prayer hall rooms, a three-story moon-viewing tower made of brick and stone, three northern lecture rooms, three eastern washrooms, and three residential rooms for the imam. The main prayer hall and the moon-viewing tower have retained much of their original appearance. The wooden structures inside the prayer hall, the painted wood carvings on the pillars, and the brick engravings on the moon-viewing tower all feature typical Islamic styles.

Construction Control Zone: Outside the protected area, extending east to the centerline of East Main Street, south to the outer red line of the Yinghe River embankment, west 30 meters west of the mosque, and north 30 meters north of the mosque.

It governs 29 village committees, 8 neighborhood committees, 201 natural villages, and 409 villager groups. The town has 73,487 acres of arable land, 16,370 households, and a total population of 75,592. It borders Yanglouzi Town to the east, faces Xincun Town of Ying上 County across the river to the south, neighbors Yuanzhai Town to the west, and adjoins Zaoshang Town to the north.
