Weigou Ambush Battle Memorial Park

The Weigou Ambush Battle Martyrs' Memorial Park is located in Yuanzhai Town and was unveiled on April 4, 2008. During the Huaihai Campaign, the Huang Wei Corps hurried from Queshan, Henan to Fucheng, attempting to break through the Yinghe River and advance northward across the river to reinforce the encircled Huang Baotao Corps in Xuzhou. Our People's Liberation Army soldiers fought fiercely with the enemy around the mouth of Weigou, successfully repelling multiple attempts by the enemy to force a crossing of the Yinghe River and push north. This bought precious time for the PLA to set up battle formations and annihilate the enemy on the northern front. Twenty-eight soldiers sacrificed their lives heroically in the Weigou Ambush Battle, and their remains were buried at the mouth of Weigou. With their flesh and blood, they made immortal contributions to the great victory of the Huaihai Campaign, achievements that will be forever remembered in history. To honor these martyrs and foster patriotism, the Party Committee and government of Yingdong District decided to establish a revolutionary tradition education base at the site of the Weigou Ambush Battle, adding a red tourism attraction to Yingdong.

Yuanzhai Town: Located 13 kilometers east of Fuyang City proper, Yuanzhai Town in Yingdong District covers an area of 56 square kilometers. It administers 26 village (residential) committees, 160 natural villages, 381 villager groups, 13,776 households, with a total population of 62,000, including 59,000 agricultural residents, and has over 40,000 mu of arable land.

The town enjoys a superior geographical location, bordered by the Yinghe River to the south. It is traversed by the Fuke Highway, the Fuyang-Huaibei Railway, and the Jihé River, offering convenient transportation. The soil types include sandy soil, silt soil, and black soil, all of which are fertile.
