Fuyang Railway Station

Fuyang enjoys convenient and extensive transportation links. The Beijing-Kowloon Railway runs north to south through the entire region, forming a “grid” pattern together with the Shangqiu-Fuyang, Luohe-Fuyang, Qingdao-Fuyang, and Fuyang-Huainan railways within the city. It serves as the starting point of the East China Second Channel and directly connects with major railway lines such as the Longhai, Beijing-Guangzhou, and Beijing-Shanghai railways, making it one of the six major network-style railway hubs in China with eight rail lines converging and five routes intersecting.

Fuyang Railway Station is located within the jurisdiction of Yingdong District, at the junction of four railways: the Beijing-Kowloon Line (Beijing–Kowloon), the Qingdao-Fuyang Line (Qinglongshan–Fuyang), the Fuyang-Huainan Line (Fuyang–Huainan), and the Luohe-Fuyang Line (Luohe–Fuyang), occupying a highly strategic geographical position.

Fuyang Station is a key railway hub on the Beijing-Kowloon Line and even across the national railway network. The station handles approximately 90 scheduled train pairs daily, peaking at nearly 150 passenger train pairs per day, with a train passing roughly every 10 minutes. It serves around 9 million passengers annually, with over 3 million passengers during recent Spring Festival travel seasons. On average, about 103 trains depart daily, meaning a train passes roughly every 15 minutes.

Fuyang Railway Station was first built in 1971 and is under the administration of the Shanghai Railway Bureau. It is currently a first-class station. Starting in August 2006, the Ministry of Railways and the Shanghai Railway Bureau invested a huge sum of 1 billion yuan to renovate and upgrade the station, expanding the waiting area. On January 29, 2008, the renovation and expansion project of Fuyang Passenger Station was completed, establishing a layout of 5 platforms and 9 tracks, increasing transport capacity by 80%. The renovated waiting room covers an area of nearly 12,000 square meters—1.5 times larger than the original—and has a maximum waiting capacity of nearly 8,000 people. Additionally, a new ticketing building was constructed with 40 ticket windows, 26 more than before. Eight membrane-structure “scenic shelters” were also built in the station square, able to accommodate 5,000 passengers at once, shielding them from rain and snow. The number of entry channels increased from 5 to 11. Before the 2008 Spring Festival travel season, a brand-new station was unveiled for migrant workers—a modern farmers’ station built to remain advanced for 50 to 100 years.
