Dagudui

Dagudui is a cultural relic protection unit of Anhui Province.

Dagudui is located beside the road south of the intersection between National Highway 206 and Provincial Road S102 in Gudui Village, Ca’an Town, Huainan City.

The ancient burial mound of Dagudui is an irregular earthen hill, standing 6 meters above the ground surface, making it quite prominent. Its top is relatively flat, measuring 35 meters in length and 30 meters in width; the base extends nearly 70 meters from east to west and about 50 meters from north to south, covering a total area of approximately 3,500 square meters. It is a provincial-level cultural relic protection unit. The northwest area of this site was once the ancient city of Shouchun, which served as the capital region for the State of Cai during the Spring and Autumn Period, the State of Chu during the Warring States Period, and the Kingdom of Huainan during the Han Dynasty. This area features a relatively dense distribution of tombs from the Spring and Autumn, Warring States, and Han periods. It is aligned in an orderly arrangement with other provincial-level protected sites such as Wuwangdun, Huangnigudui, and Lisan’gudui. These mounds are large in scale and have prominent earthen structures, suggesting that they were likely the burial sites of important nobility. The site holds significant value for the study of regional politics, culture, and funeral customs in the Huainan area from the Spring and Autumn and Warring States periods through the Han Dynasty.
