Linhuaigang is a national AAAA-level tourist attraction and a national water conservancy scenic area.

The Linhuaigang Flood Control Project is one of the 19 key projects for harnessing the Huai River and also a major project under China's Tenth Five-Year Plan. Located in the middle reaches of the main stream of the Huai River, the project spans Henan and Anhui provinces, with its main structures extending across Huoqiu, Yingzhou, and Funan counties in Anhui Province. It controls an area of 42,200 square kilometers, and is a first-class large (Type I) project, designed to withstand a flood with a recurrence interval of 100 years, holding back 8.56 billion cubic meters of floodwater, and verified against a 1,000-year flood standard, capable of retaining 12.13 billion cubic meters. The main components include the main project structures, land acquisition and resettlement, as well as impact mitigation works in the submerged areas of Henan and Anhui provinces. The main project involves reinforcing and renovating the 49-hole low-lift sluice and the lower gate section of the Chengxi Lake Ship Lock; constructing a new 14-hole Jiangtanghu Flood Inlet Sluice, a 12-hole deep-hole sluice, and the Linhuaigang Ship Lock; raising, reinforcing, and extending the main dam by 7.34 kilometers and the north and south auxiliary dams by approximately 69 kilometers; and dredging and widening the upstream and downstream diversion channels by 14.39 kilometers. The preliminary design approval for the total investment was 2.267 billion yuan, with the main project scheduled for a total construction period of five years. The Linhuaigang Flood Control Project is a key initiative in raising the flood control standard of the Huai River’s main channel to a 100-year recurrence interval. It is hailed as the “Three Gorges Project” and “Xiaolangdi Project” of the Huai River. Its completion marks a milestone in the history of Huai River management.
