“Embrace the Light – Hsinchu Gets Moving!” The 2014 Hsinchu County New Year’s Eve Party will kick off in grand style at 6:00 PM on December 31st at the plaza in front of Hsinchu County Government. A dazzling 333-second fireworks show will go head-to-head with Taipei 101’s 218-second display, with major prizes such as Hyundai cars up for grabs. Additionally, rock legend Wu Bai will take the stage alongside a specially crafted “Wu Bai giant puppet” by Hsinchu lantern artists – an event not to be missed.

The 2014 Hsinchu County New Year’s Eve Party will be hosted by Jacky Chen and Da Ya, with performances by rock legend Wu Bai & China Blue, Dream Girls, Lala Hsu, JPM, Power Station, Dark White Collar Class, Comedy King Show’s Fang Ning, Nikita, and more. A star-studded lineup will count down the new year with you. The event will feature powerful drumming by U-Theatre, Wu Bai’s closing act, and major prizes including Hyundai cars.
The evening will also showcase the Nanzhu Pickle Bucket Percussion Ensemble, winners of the 2013 Ministry of Culture Village Theater “Best Performance Award,” highlighting local culture and energy. The night kicks off with a stunning opening by U-Theatre, followed by comedians mimicking the late Teresa Teng and Jolin Tsai with uncanny accuracy. Dark White Collar Class will perform a series of beautiful Hakka songs. Artists Dream Girls and JPM will join Hsinchu County Magistrate Chiu Ching-chun, dressed as a “Healthy Lion” for the New Year’s flag-raising and Creative Walk event, as everyone counts down together. As the countdown begins, the fireworks show will deliver a feast for the senses, and Wu Bai & China Blue will bring the evening to a thrilling climax with a 45-minute rock performance guaranteed to electrify the crowd.
This year’s New Year’s Eve raffle prizes are abundant, including SYM motorcycles, 42T LCD TVs, Bluetooth speakers, and the grand prize – a Hyundai ELANTRA car. The car raffle will take place after Wu Bai’s performance, with winners claiming prizes on stage upon presenting their tickets. Raffle tickets can be exchanged at the event information desk starting at 6:00 PM on the day of the event – just bring one invoice from November or December 2013 to get one raffle ticket, with a limit of five per person per exchange. Additionally, starting at 8:00 PM at the information desk, one invoice from November or December 2013 can be exchanged for one glow stick, with a limit of two per person per exchange.
After the New Year’s Eve Party, welcome the new year with the Hsinchu County Government’s Flag-Raising Ceremony and Creative Walk along Guangming 6th Road. Invite friends and family, dress up in animal costumes, and bring your pets to join the flag-raising at 6:30 AM on January 1st at the county government plaza. Then, continue the celebration with a walk along Hsinchu’s Champs-Élysées – Guangming 6th Road – still in costume, with loved ones and pets. On New Year’s Day, 2,000 spots will be available for on-site registration. Those who complete all four checkpoints along the walk will receive the top prize: a collectible 2014 national flag scarf, specially designed by Hsinchu County Government. The final checkpoint will feature a mobile post office where you can share health and happiness with loved ones through mailed greetings.
