Huoqiu Confucius Temple

Huoqiu Confucius Temple is a cultural relic protection unit of Anhui Province.

Huoqiu Confucius Temple is located on Wenhua Street in Chengguan Town, Huoqiu County.

The ancient architectural complex was originally called the Temple of Confucius, also known as the Academy or the Sacred Hall, commonly referred to as the Imperial College. The temple was first built in the second year of the Zhi Shun era during the Yuan Dynasty (1331), with the Academy added in the fifth year of the Hongwu era of the Ming Dynasty (1372), the Hall of Minglun added in the sixth year of the Zhengde era (1511), and the Zunjing Pavilion built in the thirteenth year of the Chongzhen era (1640). In the third year of the Jiaqing era of the Qing Dynasty (1798), the 14 side rooms on the east and west were expanded from 14 to 18, and in the sixth year of the Jiaqing era (1801), the Dacheng Hall was enlarged from 3 to 5 rooms.

Huoqiu Confucius Temple consists of five-room Jiemen (Weapon Gate), 18 side rooms on the east and west, a five-room Dacheng Hall, a five-room Hall of Minglun, and a two-story Zunjing Pavilion with a total of 10 rooms. The entire structure adopts a post-and-lintel style, featuring five- or seven-rafter beams, flush gable walls, and is built with blue bricks, gray tiles, and wooden materials, covering an area of 4,240 square meters. It showcases typical Ming and Qing architectural styles and is one of the earliest and best-preserved wooden architectural complexes in western Anhui.

Protected area: 5 meters east of the north-south extension line of the back wall of the east wing room, 5 meters south of the east-west extension line of the Lingxing Gate, 5 meters west of the north-south extension line of the back wall of the west wing room, and 5 meters north of the east-west extension line of the back wall of the Zunjing Pavilion.

Construction control zone: A 20-meter buffer zone surrounding the protected area.
