Red Army Square Scenic Area
Jinzhai Red Army Square was expanded from the Jinzhai County Revolutionary Museum and Martyrs' Cemetery. The formerly enclosed museum and cemetery were transformed into an open-style Red Army Square, with the Red Army Memorial Hall originally located behind the monument being demolished and rebuilt, forming the current Red Army Square. It has become a public space that integrates education, leisure, and tourism. As an important part of the second-phase renovation project of the Jinzhai Revolutionary Martyrs' Cemetery, construction began in September 2007, covering an area of 19,000 square meters with an investment of 22.5 million yuan. The project includes the square, mountain steps, tourist toilets, an archway, landscaping, lighting, retaining walls, and sculptures.
Recently, Jinzhai County has invested another 23 million yuan to implement other renovation projects at the martyrs' cemetery, including the redesign and reorganization of the Revolutionary Museum exhibition halls, the reconstruction of the Red Army Memorial Hall, the construction of a memorial monument for General Hong Xuezhi, and the restoration of the Martyrs' Tower and the Red Army Martyrs' Cemetery, further highlighting the theme of "A Thousand-Mile March, Hometown of Generals." The newly renovated martyrs' cemetery will more prominently showcase its new image as a National Patriotic Education Demonstration Base and a National Classic Red Tourism Site.
On October 2, 2008, the ashes of General Hong Xuezhi were officially laid to rest at the Red Army Square.
The Jinzhai County Red Army Square Tourist Scenic Area includes six main attractions: the Revolutionary Martyrs' Memorial Tower, the Jinzhai County Revolutionary Museum, the Red Army Martyrs' Cemetery, the Red Army Square, the Memorial Monument for General Hong Xuezhi, and the Jinzhai County Red Army Memorial Hall.
