Lenin Primary School in Jinzhai County is a cultural heritage site protected by Anhui Province and a classic red tourism attraction.

Lenin Primary School in Jinzhai County is located in Waji Village, Tangjiahuai Town, Jinzhai County.

In the spring of the 19th year of the Republic of China (1930), it was established by the Soviet government. The school plaque read “Lenin Primary School of the Sixth District, First Township.” Initially, there were four teaching classes and one morning and evening literacy class, with both school-age children and adults being able to attend for free. The school had four teachers and over a hundred students. Managed by the Soviet government, its principal was concurrently the township Soviet chairman, and the Communist Youth League branch was entrusted with leading the academic work. A student commune was established, consisting of five divisions: general affairs, education, health, publicity, and music. Students studied culture, politics, and military skills, participated in labor, stood guard, and carried out political propaganda activities. Wu Shangci and Zhou Bailian were unfortunately arrested during propaganda activities and heroically sacrificed their lives.

In the autumn of the 21st year of the Republic of China (1932), when the Nationalist army invaded the Dabie Mountains, Lenin Primary School was closed. Most of the students joined the Long March of the Red Army, the school building was burned down, leaving only six remaining tiled rooms of the front section. Farmers Cheng Deshen (phonetic: shen) and Zhou Bailong cleverly preserved the school plaque inscribed “Lenin Primary School of the Sixth District, First Township.” In 1957, Wawuji Primary School merged with Sidaohe Primary School and relocated to the former site of Lenin Primary School, resuming its name as “Lenin Primary School.” In 1961, it was designated as a provincial-level key cultural relics protection unit. In 1966, junior high school classes were added.

In 1978, the Liuan Regional Revolutionary Committee named the school a Key Primary School of the Liuan Region. In 1984, the People’s Government of Anhui Province awarded the school a banner inscribed with “Strive to Educate a New Generation” as recognition. In 1995, the Department of Basic Education of the National Education Commission honored the school as an “Advanced Unit in the National Girls' Education Project in Impoverished Areas.”
