The former site of the Red Twenty-Eighth Army and the Liu-Deng Army Headquarters is located in Lao Wan, Wawuji Village, Tangjia Hui Town. It dates back to the modern era and is categorized as an important modern historical site and representative building.

On June 21, 2019, the former site of the Red Twenty-Eighth Army and the Liu-Deng Army Headquarters was designated as part of the eighth batch of cultural heritage protection units in Jinzhai County.

Protected Area: The cultural relic itself and 6 meters west of the wall foundation, 2 meters east, 2 meters north, and 3 meters south.

Construction Control Zone: 80 meters west of the protected area, and 60 meters east, south, and north of the protected area.

Wawuji Village: Wawuji Village is located in the northwest corner of Tangjia Hui Town, on the border between Anhui and Henan provinces, within the mountainous regions of the 1,500-meter-high Jinpingtai and Foshan Temple ranges. The current Wawuji Village was formed in April 2008 through the consolidation of the former Waji, Shangtang, Zhanshan, and Foshan villages, uniting 49 villager groups into the town’s—and even the county’s—most populous village. The consolidated village now has 27 residential groups, 1,579 households, and 6,323 residents, with a total mountain area of 31,678 mu and arable land covering 2,758 mu.
