On June 21, 2019, the Former Site of the Red Twenty-Eighth Army Garrison during the Three-Year Guerrilla War Period was listed as part of the eighth batch of cultural heritage protection units in Jinzhai County.

Protected Area: The heritage site itself and an additional 6 meters to the south and north beyond the wall foundation, and 2 meters to the east and west.

Construction Control Zone: An area extending 80 meters outward from the protected area in all four directions—east, south, west, and north.

Wawuji Village: Wawuji Village is located in the northwestmost part of Tangjiahuai Town, on the border between Anhui and Henan provinces, within the mountainous regions of the 1,500-meter-high Jinguangtai and Foshan Temple ranges. The current Wawuji Village was formed in April 2008 through the merger of the former four villages—Waji, Shangtang, Zhanshan, and Foshan—comprising 49 villager groups, making it the most populous village in the town and even one of the more populated in the county. The merged village now consists of 27 residential groups, 1,579 households, and 6,323 residents, with a total mountainous area of 31,678 mu and arable land covering 2,758 mu.
