Lüzu Hall (Tianjin Boxer Memorial Hall) is located at No. 18 Hejia Hutong, Ruyi’an Street, Hongqiao District. It was originally built... It consists of the west side hall and other structures. It is currently the only relatively well-preserved Boxer altar site in China. In the 26th year of the Guangxu reign of the Qing Dynasty (1900), the Boxer Movement rose, and the famous Boxer leader Cao Futian established his main altar here, making it the center of Boxer activities at the time. The battle plans for the famous battles of Zizhulin, Laolongtou, and the entire Tianjin Defense Battle were all drawn up here. The courtyard was once a place where Boxers practiced martial arts and interrogated “Ermaozi” (a derogatory term for Chinese converts to Christianity).
