Former Site of Fuju Xing Machinery Factory

The Former Site of Fuju Xing Machinery Factory is a National AA-level Tourist Attraction and a Tianjin Municipal Cultural Relics Protection Unit.

The Fuju Xing Machinery Factory is located in the middle section of Tangzi Hutong on San Tiao Shi Street, Hongqiao District, Tianjin. It opened in July 1926. The factory is a quadrangle compound made of brick and wood, consisting of a front office, rear office, machine workshop, warehouse, forging shed, kitchen, and courtyard. It is the only well-preserved old factory site in Tianjin.

The Fuju Xing Machinery Factory covers an area of 370 square meters. The buildings on the site adopt the traditional residential architectural style of northern China.

The machine workshop is the core building of the Fuju Xing Machinery Factory, covering 110 square meters. Inside the workshop, overhead shafts and belts hang from the ceiling, with various machines densely arranged and crisscrossed. The equipment in the entire machine workshop reflects the general state of the national machinery industry during the 1930s and 1940s. The front office is characterized by windows on all four sides, each serving a specific purpose, reflecting a unique production management style deeply influenced by feudal ideology.

The Fuju Xing Machinery Factory was established during the heyday of the national industry on San Tiao Shi. It grew rapidly—from an initial investment of one thousand silver dollars in 1926 to capital growth of 110 times by the time it became a joint public-private enterprise in 1956. In its early days, the factory mainly undertook small processing jobs, but later its main products included over twenty varieties such as ice planers, oil presses, rice threshers, and pulley systems. Its products were distributed across the country, making it a relatively large-scale machinery factory at the time. The factory enjoyed a high reputation in the early industrial scene of San Tiao Shi.

In 1968, the former site of the Fuju Xing Machinery Factory was officially handed over to the San Tiao Shi History Museum.

In 1973, the exhibition at the former site of the Fuju Xing Machinery Factory was officially opened to the public.
