Jieyuan Waterworks was built in 1898, covering an area of 96,000 square meters with a building area of 50,000 square meters. It officially commenced operations in 1903. In 1950, it was renamed to its current name. The waterworks draws water from the canal, supplying water to Hongqiao, Nankai, and Heping districts, as well as parts of Xiqing and Beichen districts. The supply area covers over 130 square kilometers.

Facing south and situated to the north up to the South Canal, to the west up to the Central Ring Road, to the east up to Milan Garden, and to the south up to Jieyuan Road. It covers an area of 96,000 square meters with a building area of 50,000 square meters. Established in the 24th year of the Guangxu reign during the Qing Dynasty (1898), it was initially named the British-owned Jianshui Tap Water Co., Ltd. It officially commenced operations in 1903 and was renamed to its current name in 1950. The water supply covers Hongqiao, Nankai, and Heping districts, as well as parts of Xiqing and Beichen districts, with a service area of over 130 square kilometers.

With a history of over a hundred years, it is one of the earlier waterworks established in the city and also one of the larger municipal water supply networks. It provides domestic water to residents in the urban districts of Hongqiao, Nankai, and Heping, as well as in Beichen and Xiqing districts, along with water for commercial, industrial, and agricultural use closely related to people’s livelihoods. It holds significant historical value.
