The former auditorium of Hebei Provincial No. 1 Middle School is situated on the campus of Lingzhongge Middle School on the south side of Jieyuan Road in Hongqiao District. This location was originally the site of Lingzhongge, one of the “Three Treasures of Tianjin Wei.” In the 13th year of the Guangxu reign (1887), the “Jigu Academy” was established here. In 1901, the “Tianjin Common School” was founded, which was renamed the “Tianjin Government Middle School” in 1903. It has been used as a school ever since. The original auditorium's construction date is unknown, but it was rebuilt in 1933 and remains well-preserved and in use today.

The auditorium faces north-south, with an east-west central axis symmetry. It covers an area of 2,300 square meters. There are two-story classrooms at the front and the auditorium at the back. Viewed from above, it resembles the shape of an airplane. The interior is divided into upper and lower levels, with a total of 978 seats.

The former auditorium of Hebei Provincial No. 1 Middle School features a unique architectural design, ingenious structure, and an airplane-shaped layout when viewed from above, giving it certain cultural heritage value.

The school nurtured and produced a large number of scientists, educators, and revolutionaries, such as Yu Fangzhou, An Xingsheng, and Ma Qianli, who contributed to China’s revolution.

Inside the auditorium, six stone tablets are preserved, including those from the 13th year of the Guangxu reign (1887) that document the transformation of Jigu Temple into Jigu Academy by the Tianjin Prefecture government and details about the academy’s curriculum. These tablets hold significant cultural heritage value.
