Xiaowei Luo Family Ancestral House

The Xiaowei Luo Family Ancestral House is a cultural relic protection unit of Anhui Province.

The Xiaowei Luo Family Ancestral House is located in Xiaowei Village, Aikou Township, Susong County, Anqing City.

The Luo Family Ancestral House was originally built in the first year of the Chongzhen era of the Ming Dynasty (1628), and in the tenth year of the Xianfeng era of the Qing Dynasty (1861); it was rebuilt during the Qianlong era by the grandfather of Luo Zundian, Governor of Zhejiang, and served as his former residence. The structure faces south, features five bays across five sections, with wing rooms on both the eastern and western sides. It has high, flat roofs with hard mountain-style gables adorned with five tiers of horse-head walls. The entire building is constructed with a post-and-lintel wooden frame and brick, covering an area of approximately 600 square meters. Luo Zundian (1798–1860), styled Dancun, became a Jinshi (imperial scholar) in the 15th year of the Daoguang era. He held various positions including county magistrate, prefect, Salt Transport Commissioner of Lianghuai, Inspector General and Provincial Governor of Hubei, Governor of Fujian, and Governor of Zhejiang. In the tenth year of the Xianfeng era, when Taiping troops captured Hangzhou, he and his entire family of five died in defense of the city. The Qing court posthumously awarded him the title of Right Censor-in-Chief, granted hereditary rank of Cavalry Captain, and conferred the posthumous name Zhuangjie (Martyr of Valor).

Protected Area: A perimeter of 20 meters around the outer edge of the cultural relic.

Construction Control Zone: A buffer of 100 meters beyond the protected area.

Xiaowei Village: Located at the northern end of Susong County, Anqing City, Anhui Province, Xiaowei Village in Aikou Township comprises 21 villager groups, with a total population of 2,167. The village spans 3.3 square kilometers, including 1,630 mu of arable land and 3,300 mu of mountainous forest. It is a typical low mountain and hilly region. The village has 66 Party members, organized under two Party branches and four Party groups. In 2006, Xiaowei Village was designated as a model village for the New Countryside Construction Program among Anhui Province’s “Thousand Villages and Hundred Towns.”
