Divine Dragon Island is located 10 kilometers from Chun’an County and is a scenic spot mainly for observing snake activities. The serpent pools house dozens of venomous species, including the five-step snake, cobra, king cobra, and bamboo pit viper. Many non-venomous snakes of various kinds also coil on the branches in the snake garden, offering visitors a thrilling yet safe experience. This is a completely man-made island where over fifty species and more than ten thousand snakes are currently kept in the wild, making it a veritable serpent world in Thousand Island Lake. The island features a variety of leisure facilities themed around snakes, including a snake garden, snake exhibition gallery, snake cuisine restaurant, and snake performance hall. “Divine Dragon” has fallen so low here—perhaps it’s better to just call it by its original name, “Snake,” which sounds nastier, stays farther from people, and might even be freer and safer as a result. The island is home to dozens of non-venomous and venomous snake species totaling tens of thousands of individuals. Venturing into the snake garden to coexist with them is a thrilling but safe experience. Highlights of the snake performances include watching snake fights, humans and snakes sleeping together, dancing together, swimming together, and even kissing.
