Attraction Overview:

Located 9 kilometers from Qiandao Lake Town, covering an area of 5 hectares with an elevation of 126 meters, the terrain is flat. In 1985, a macaque breeding base was established here using the "water confinement method" through a collaboration between the Shanghai Institute of Physiology at the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Qiandao Lake Forest Farm. It opened to the public in 1990. The Monkey Island is divided into three visiting areas: Distant Village, Science Corridor, and Monkey Art Garden. In Distant Village, you can have close interactions with monkeys for endless fun; the Science Corridor offers knowledge about primates to broaden your horizons; and the Monkey Art Garden showcases trained monkey performances and unique monkey culture, making it a fun destination suitable for all ages.

Transportation: Boats to this attraction are available from Qiandao Lake Tourist Wharf, Maozhu Yuan Tourist Wharf, and Jiuzhupai via the Jiande Tunnel.
