Ancient Qinchuan Village

Ancient Qinchuan Village is a national AAA-level tourist attraction.

Ancient Qinchuan Village is located in Langchuan Township, Chun’an County, and still preserves 300 ancient Huizhou-style buildings from the Ming and Qing dynasties. These structures feature carved beams and painted rafters, as well as waterside pavilions, towers, and fish-play ponds. As soon as you step into Qinchuan Village, you can feel the serene ambiance described in Tao Yuanming’s line “Picking chrysanthemums beneath the eastern hedge, I glimpse the southern mountains in the distance.” The slow-paced life in Qinchuan Village is perfect for vacationing and leisure.

Although it is located in Zhejiang Province, the entire village features architecture in the Huizhou style, with Ming and Qing dynasty-era houses accounting for about 70% of the village’s buildings.

At the entrance of the village, five large camphor trees spread their massive branches in all directions, with the oldest being over 800 years old. A small stream runs through the village, crossed by more than 30 bridges. The houses on both banks are neatly arranged, and from a bird’s-eye view from the mountaintop, the entire village forms a “王” (king) character along the river.

Thirty-eight small bridges span the stream, reflecting the long history and tranquility of the ancient village, among which the most famous is the “Jiyun Bridge,” built during the Chongzhen era of the Ming Dynasty.

The 300 ancient Ming and Qing dynasty buildings, designed in the Huizhou architectural style of southern Anhui, are nestled against the mountains and by the water. With white walls and gray tiles, their brick carvings, wood carvings, and stone carvings are all renowned for their exquisite craftsmanship. Qinchuan Village still preserves eight ancestral halls—including Guanyutang, Jingyitang, Dunmutang, the Wang Family Ancestral Hall, Jin Gong Ancestral Hall, Renyi Hall, and Zhaoling Temple—as well as three temples.

The Spring Festival is the most important holiday in Qinchuan Village. Visiting Qinchuan Village to celebrate a traditional rural New Year with the villagers, making sesame candy, has gradually become popular among travelers and offers a truly unique experience.

Take the “Pioneer” ferry from the passenger terminal to Jiangjia Town, a journey of about one hour by boat. After disembarking, transfer to a minibus from Jiangjia Town to Fenkou Town, getting off midway at Langchuan Township. The fare is 3 yuan, and the ride takes 20 minutes. Langchuan Township is still 3 kilometers away from Qinchuan Village; a motorized tricycle can take you there.

Self-driving route: From Chun’kai Line in Qiandao Lake Town, pass through Fenkou to Langchuan, then to Xin Qiao, and turn left to arrive.

Tips: Passenger boats depart at 6:10 AM and 1:10 PM; speedboats depart at 7:00 AM, 10:20 AM, and 2:30 PM.

Qinchuan Village: Located at the northern foot of Yinfeng Mountain, 3.5 kilometers behind the Langchuan Township government office in Chun’an County, Qinchuan Village is 45 kilometers from Qiandao Lake Town, the county seat. County Road Qianfen passes by the entrance of the village. The village covers a total land area of 9.4 square kilometers (14,107 mu), including 1,039 mu of arable land, of which 817 mu are paddy fields. The village itself occupies an area of 0.6 square kilometers (900 mu), with 520 households and a population of over 1,700, over 95% of whom have the surname Wang. It is the largest natural village in the area by population.
