Xiayang Village Scenic Area

Xiayang Village Scenic Area is a national AAA-level tourist attraction.

Xiayang Village is located in the southwestern part of Chun’an County, 41 kilometers from the county seat. It belongs to Fengshulin Town and is 2.5 kilometers from the town government. In 2007, as part of a village-scale adjustment, it was formed through the merger of four natural villages: Xiayang, Zha’er, Yijia, and Houlongkeng. The area covers 10.76 square kilometers.

The village currently has 645 mu of cultivated land and 10,259 mu of forestland, including over 7,100 mu of national ecological public welfare forest, primarily consisting of natural forests, giving it a forest coverage rate of 97%. There are 231 households and 768 residents, with 558 laborers. The main family surnames are Jiang, Yu, Yang, Yi, and Wu. In 2015, the village’s total economic income reached 40.0762 million yuan, and the per capita net income of farmers was 21,125 yuan. Income mainly comes from tourism, tea, sericulture, and traditional Chinese medicine. The per capita income of farmers ranks among the top in Fengshulin Town.

As a grassroots contact point for four successive secretaries of the Zhejiang Provincial Party Committee, Xiayang Village carries the earnest expectations and requirements of higher-level leaders. It has successively been awarded titles such as “National Advanced Primary-Level Party Organization in Striving to Be the First and Excel,” Zhejiang Province’s “Beautiful Countryside,” and “Xiayang in Pursuit of Dreams,” which was honored as one of the New Top Ten Scenic Spots of Qiandao Lake Tourism. In 2015, it successfully passed the acceptance inspection for a national AAA-level scenic area. In 2016, Xiayang was designated as a field teaching demonstration base of the Zhejiang Party School. In 2017, it was established as a Hangzhou “Red-Green-Blue” three-color field teaching base. In May 2016, the Xiayang Scenic Area Management Co., Ltd. was established to implement “Five Unifications” management. Currently, the village has 23 homestays, including two boutique ones: “Jiujiuminju Langqiaoxiyu” and “Qishe,” offering a total of 398 beds. The village offers agritainment experiences such as making mochi, wrapping zongzi, crafting rice cakes, extracting honey, ox-plowing fields, cycling in the valley, and water recreation.
