Yu Xiusong (1899–1939), originally named Shousong and also known by the alias WANG Shoucheng, was from Zhuji, Zhejiang. In 1920, he joined the Shanghai Communist Group and participated in the founding of the Socialist Youth League, serving as its secretary. In 1922, after returning from studying in the Soviet Union, he was involved in party and league-building activities in Zhejiang and Fujian. In 1925, he helped lead the May Thirtieth Movement in Shanghai. In 1933, he was sent to work in Khabarovsk in the Soviet Far East, serving as deputy editor of the Chinese edition of Workers' Path. In June 1935, he was appointed Secretary-General of the Xinjiang Anti-Imperialist Federation and President of Xinjiang College, among other positions. In 1937, he was imprisoned due to false accusations by Wang Ming, Kang Sheng, and others. He was killed in the Soviet Union in 1939. In 1962, he was posthumously recognized as a revolutionary martyr.

The residence faces south and is a late Qing Dynasty-style courtyard house with a building area of 458 square meters. The upstairs of the east wing room was Yu Xiusong's birthplace, which holds significant importance for the study of his early life.
