Grandma’s Village is designed based on a traditional Chinese folk saying from the Jiangnan region: “Go to your mother-in-law’s for a meal, but head to your grandma’s for fun.” Covering an area of approximately 110,000 square meters, it features over 30 attractions themed around rural charm, countryside scenery, and countryside entertainment. The layout of the attractions makes clever use of the existing terrain; the creative design meets tourism requirements and functions, with exquisite architecture in an elegant, classic style. The staggered rooftops, simple and unadorned forms, and the bright color scheme of blue bricks and black tiles are embraced by the surrounding green mountains and clear waters, creating a harmonious beauty throughout the entire Grandma’s Village area.

Drifting down the serene Tianmu Stream, you’ll arrive at Grandma’s Village at the end of the journey. It is the “Wuling Village” by the Fuchun River. The beauty of Grandma’s Village lies in its pure, rustic charm. As you step through the entrance gate, a strong sense of countryside delight greets you. The slowly turning large waterwheel, old houses with blue bricks and black tiles, quaint old workshops, and nearly forgotten traditional toys in the folk square… All these scenes instantly transport visitors back to their rural hometowns of decades past. The image of Grandma, the laughter of childhood, the green mountains and clear waters outside the door—all seem vividly close, within reach.

Pumpkins are a highlight of Grandma’s Village. In summer, a visit to Red Lantern Grandma’s Village offers a dazzling array of uniquely shaped pumpkins. Sit under the lush green pumpkin trellises for a touch of endless coolness. The annual Pumpkin Festival held here features a variety of exciting activities and enjoys a great reputation in East China. Grandma’s Village also has its own Water Splashing Festival, where visitors can freely join in the fun. More than ten young Miao performers from Guangxi join in the water-splashing revelry, making the cool droplets of water bring a refreshing thrill to the summer.

The beauty of Grandma’s Village is also a rich expression of traditional folklore. Surrounded by green mountains and crisscrossed by streams, Grandma’s Village lies in a picturesque natural setting. The She ethnic group—the only minority group in Tonglu—can be found scattered among these mountains.
