Xipo Xianhetang
Xipo Xianhetang is a Zhejiang Provincial Cultural Relics Protection Unit.
Xianhetang, situated in the center of Xipo Village, was constructed in the 10th year of the Zhengde era of the Ming Dynasty (1515) and has a history of 500 years. The hall has three bays and a double-sloped roof structure, with a width of 12.5 meters, a depth of 10.5 meters, and an area of approximately 130 square meters. The interior features thick beams and columns, brick walls, wooden pillars in the central and side bays. Its wood carvings and architectural details fully showcase the construction characteristics of the mid-Ming Dynasty, giving the entire structure a grand and majestic appearance.
According to the "Shentu Family Ancestral Hall" records, Xianhetang was funded and initiated by Shentu Qiujiang, the 14th-generation ancestor of the Shentu family, and his son Dongxi. It served as an important site for worship and meetings of the eighth branch of the Shentu clan in Xipo. The hall was named to reflect harmony within the family, clan, village, society, and between humans and nature.
After the liberation in 1949, Xianhetang came under the management of the village and was once used as a village school, a grain collection point for production teams, and a grain processing factory.
In 2011, Xipo Village carried out a comprehensive restoration of Xianhetang, renovated the surrounding environment, and restored the hall’s original appearance, fully preserving the architectural features of the mid-Ming Dynasty. It was listed as a sixth-batch provincial-level cultural relics protection unit.
On January 7, 2011, it was announced as a sixth-batch Zhejiang Provincial Cultural Relics Protection Unit.
