Shishe Ancient Architectural Complex

The Shishe Ancient Architectural Complex is a Zhejiang Provincial Cultural Relics Protection Unit.

The Shishe Ancient Architectural Complex is located in Fuchunjiang Town, Tonglu County, dating back to the Ming and Qing dynasties.

Shishe Village is the most remote administrative village in Fuchunjiang Town, Tonglu County. It is situated on the renowned western Zhejiang tourism route, bordering Jiande and Pujiang. The ancient architecture is a major feature of Shishe Village, which boasts over 3,000 square meters of Ming and Qing dynasty buildings. In recent years, with the help of the county's cultural bureau, these structures have been restored and preserved, and they may become a unique tourism attraction in the future. To meet the needs of building a “Beautiful Countryside” flagship village, the village committee has made significant efforts in environmental improvement. Substantial funds have been invested to widen the originally narrow village roads, install sewage pipelines, carry out greening work, and set up streetlights along the village. As a result, the overall appearance of the village has greatly improved.

On January 13, 2017, it was announced by the People’s Government of Zhejiang Province as part of the seventh batch of Zhejiang Provincial Cultural Relics Protection Units.

Fuchunjiang Town: Located on the banks of the Fuchun River in the southwestern part of Tonglu County, Fuchunjiang Town borders Pujiang and Jiande to the southwest and connects to Tonglu Town, the county seat, to the north. It is 90 kilometers from Hangzhou. It is an emerging industrial and tourism town situated on the national-level scenic route of Fuchun River, Xin’an River, and Qiandao Lake. The town covers a total area of 200 square kilometers with a population of 32,000, comprising 15 administrative villages and 9 residential areas. It hosts five provincial- or ministerial-level institutions including the Fuchunjiang Power Plant, Fuchunjiang Hydropower Equipment General Factory, the 12th Bureau Fuchunjiang Management Office, and Fuchunjiang Hydropower Staff University, as well as 482 town-affiliated industrial enterprises and numerous individual businesses...
